September of 2020 was busy with a variety of activities. The family returned from a weekend on Long Island at the beginning of the month. There were gatherings on Labor Day weekend. School opened on a hybrid model, with students in person 2-3 days per week and remote the other days each week. People got creative with social activities, including outdoor birthday parties. The fall baseball season started. Later in the month, everyone celebrated Nonna’s birthday.

Outdoor activities continued in August of 2020. The pandemic-shortened summer travel baseball season and town camp ended. The family took one final trip for the season to Sag Harbor on Long Island during the last weekend of August. Everyone enjoyed time spent at ocean beaches as well as other recreational activities. Evan and Wyatt continued to meet friends in outdoor settings, including the Bedford Hills town pool.

Some outdoor activities resumed in July of 2020. Travel baseball resumed in the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League and Tri-County Baseball Association. Town of Bedford pools opened, with reservations required for entry and capacity limited. Wyatt and Evan spent more time outdoors. The family took another trip to Sag Harbor on Long Island near the Independence Day holiday. Everyone enjoyed the ocean and other vacation recreation such as mini golf and batting cages.

People continued to hunker down in the month of June. The school year, and home schooling, ended. Schools celebrated graduates with drive-through graduations. Evan graduated from Bedford Hills Elementary School and enjoyed a nice celebration behind the school, waving goodbye to all his teachers and principal. Evan also continued to spend time outside when possible, including a couple of hours at a field day event with some of his friends and classmates. After school ended, the family took its first trip to Sag Harbor on Long Island. Everyone enjoyed relaxing and spending time in and on the water.

In addition to walking, jogging, and biking, other outdoor activities including hiking and a bit of fishing. Indoor activities included board games and baking. Notable events in May were Mother’s Day and a BCSD teacher appreciation parade.

Home schooling continued in April. Evan did his schoolwork each day and exercised outside when the weather permitted. Other highlights of April were Mom’s birthday and Easter. Evan helped friends celebrate their birthday with a socially distant outdoor gathering. He went fishing and got his first “COVID cut” haircut. The family continued having game time and baking together as time permitted.
