Evan stayed busy in August. One highlight was a trip to Sag Harbor on Long Island with several of his friends. Everyone had a nice time fishing and playing in and on the water, as well as going to the golf range. Evan returned to Sag Harbor with his family the following week. The second Long Island trip followed a night watching Fox Lane alumnus Henry Davis and the Pittsburgh Pirates play the New York Mets at Citi Field. Immediately following that trip, Evan went to central New Jersey to play a weekend tournament with EA Baseball. Right after that, Evan started practices with the Fox Lane junior varsity football team. For the first practice week and part of the second, the team worked out twice a day. With some of his limited remaining free hours, Evan spent some time with his friends closer to home.

The last full month of summer vacation was packed with leisure activities. Wyatt played a little baseball with EA Baseball in Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League play as well as one day in a 13U tournament. He also attended a New York Mets game. Wyatt traveled to Sag Harbor on Long Island for stays of five and four days in consecutive weeks. He went fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and caught a tuna, some of which the family enjoyed eating. Wyatt also spent some time with friends, and he started hockey practice the last week of the month.

From July 15-20, Wyatt joined the EA Baseball 12U team at a baseball tournament at Cooperstown All Star Village, near Oneonta, New York. For five nights, the team bunked together, similar to sleep-away camp. On arrival day, the team participated in an opening ceremony and skills contests. Wyatt was EA’s representative in the home run derby, in which he hit three homers. Over the following four days, the team played a total of eight games, including a win in their first round playoff game. Wyatt also hit a home run during one of the games and was on base more than two-thirds of his plate appearances. A total of over 90 teams participated in that week’s tournament, including quite a few teams from California and several from Canada. The team also visited Cooperstown, New York, and the Baseball Hall of Fame there. Everyone had a great time.

July was the first full month of summer vacation from school. Over the July Fourth weekend, Evan and family went to a barbecue in honor of the holiday. Evan spent a lot of time playing baseball, including a couple of games of a local tournament that was shortened due to rain. He also attended a prep baseball scouting combine. Also in the world of sports, Evan played a little golf and attended a golf day camp run by Westchester County. The camp was a total of eight hours over four days.

Wyatt enjoyed a relatively leisurely month of July after a busy school year. He visited with friends at a barbecue on Independence Day weekend. He spent some time golfing, including at a golf day camp run by Westchester County that was a quick two hours per day for four days. Much of Wyatt’s focus in July was on baseball. He played some Greater Hudson Valley league games with his team, EA Baseball, but the big event of the month was a baseball tournament at Cooperstown All Star Village, near Oneonta, New York. There were a lot of great pictures from that event, which can be seen in a separate post.
