July of 2021 was a month of busy leisure. The family traveled to a couple of different locations in the Northeast. In spite of some unusually cool and wet weather, everyone went to Sag Harbor on Long Island for an extended July Fourth weekend. After a brief stop at home, the next destination was a Cal Ripken baseball tournament in Maryland in which one of Evan’s teams played. The summer travel baseball regular season ended in July, and Wyatt started informal hockey workouts in preparation for the fall season. The family also attended a Disney on Broadway concert in Manhattan.

June of 2021 marked the end of the second school year affected by the pandemic. The school year started in a hybrid model and ended with most students in person full-time. BHK Little League observed “Closing Day,” since it was not able to have an opening day ceremony. Evan received a jacket from BHKLL to recognize his “graduation” from the recreation baseball program. Also on the diamond, Evan played travel baseball for multiple teams. With one of those, the Shrub Oak Storm, Evan went to his first tournament of the summer, in the Mystic, Connecticut area.

Off the field, Evan played guitar with the School of Rock Bedford, performing two concerts of Metallica songs in Bedford Village Park. He also played guitar in the Fox Lane Middle School jazz band concert. Evan helped Dad celebrate Father’s Day and spent some time with his friends, and he also got his Covid-19 immunizations in June.

June of 2021 marked the end of the second school year affected by the pandemic. The school year started in a hybrid model and ended with most students in person full-time. Ever-popular Field Day returned to BHES after a one-year hiatus. Students were excited to compete against their friends. BHK Little League observed “Closing Day,” since it was not able to have an opening day ceremony. Also with BHKLL, Wyatt played in the AAA all star game, an exciting, late-night affair that went down to the bottom of the last inning. Away from sports and school, Wyatt helped Dad celebrate Father’s Day and spent some time with friends.

A lot happened in April of 2021. The month started with Spring Break and Easter. The Easter holiday included an egg hunt and family dinner. After Spring Break, Bedford schools returned to full-time in-person instruction for all students. The spring baseball season started, and the town program added games against teams from nearby towns. Evan was excited to show his new room to friend and family visitors. Evan also helped Mom celebrate her birthday.

March of 2021 was quiet. Indoor baseball practices continued, but the start of the season was delayed due to the weather. Temperatures warmed a bit, so there were opportunities to get outside, but the ground was still very wet. School spring break started at the end of the month. Evan continued to hone his cooking skills, and he went to a gathering of family friends.

There were several different activities in February of 2021. There was another snowstorm at the beginning of February that freshened up conditions for sledding, skiing, and other snow sports. Evan and Wyatt took their last two ski trips of the season to Catamount Mountain. Evan performed with the Bedford School of Rock playing a Hair Metal concert at a mostly empty Tarrytown Music Hall. The performance was recorded for later online viewing. Evan’s basketball team wrapped up their casual Saturday afternoon league. During the Presidents’ Week school break, Evan went to a daily half day coding camp at a local branch of Code Ninjas. Also over the break, Evan moved into his own room and slept in his new bed.
